About

Hi, I’m Fiona Wilson, founder of Hypnatal Birthing. I first discovered Hyonobirthing when I was pregnant with my first child, Henry, back in 2019. As a bit of a control freak and lover of planning things I knew I would feel out of my comfort zone when it came to birth. My husband Sam and I did a hypnobirthing course with a wonderful Little Birth Company instructor near us. This completely changed our whole outlook and mindset approaching birth. I remember thinking why doesn’t everyone know this??
Fast forward a few months and we had the most positive, empowering, beautiful water birth at Frimley Park Hospital. Giving birth at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown was far from ideal, with the ever changing world and increasing restrictions, but everything we learnt during our course and subsequent practice made us so prepared and confident going into it. Instead of feeling scared and anxious, we were excited and empowered. I want every birthing family to feel this way too. Skip forward a couple of years and our beautiful daughter Maisie was born in a peaceful, quick, magical water birth at home. Giving birth in my own home environment was so amazing, I felt relaxed, calm and unobserved, which made the whole experience so positive and empowering. We created a birthing bubble in our lounge, with fairy lights, vision boards, candles, affirmations (and of course had to move all my 2 year olds toys out the way as that really killed the beautiful birth environment!)

Whilst on maternity leave with Maisie I realised that I wanted something different, now I’d moved into a very different stage of life with 2 small children to run around after. I wanted to do something that gave me huge amounts of job satisfaction, whilst also allowing me to be present for my children while they were so young. I also had this really strong urge to share my passion with other people who were pregnant.

I trained with The Little Birth Company as I love what they stand for, their ethos and values. Now I feel so passionately about supporting expectant parents to equip you with the tools, techniques and knowledge to have the most positive birth, no matter how or where you choose to birth your baby.
