About

Hi, my name is Heather and I am a hypnobirthing teacher working in Stirling and Forth Valley. I have always been fascinated by the mind-body connection and initially completed a degree in Psychology. I then completed my PGDE in Primary Education before training as a Hypnobirthing Teacher with The Little Birth Company.

I love hockey, sewing and Harry Potter, and you could say my music taste is eclectic – a good mix of show tunes with rock, and rnb! If I start to read a book you probably won’t hear from me for a day or two until I have finished it! Needless to say I don’t read many books as they are too big of a commitment!

I live with my husband and two wee boys in Stirling and they were the inspiration for my journey into Hypnobirthing. I gave birth to my eldest, Lewis, in April 2020. To say I wasn’t prepared to give birth is an understatement, let alone to navigate birth at the start of a pandemic! When I became pregnant a second time I knew I wanted a more positive experience and that is when I found hypnobirthing. The more I learned, the more it just made sense to me! It combined everything I knew about the importance of a positive mindset withing Teaching, with my Psychology background and suddenly birth just clicked! It wasn’t nonsense like I had initially believed but so scientific and it completely transformed my second birth.

What frustrated me was that I had to find all this out for myself! I feel so passionate that everyone should be fully informed about birth, that I created ‘The Stirling Birth School’. My goal is simple – I really want every birthing person to be able to have a positive birth experience. To me, that means that you are fully informed, prepared and excited to give birth – able to navigate any choices with confidence and able to remain calm and in control in birth.

I believe that Hypnobirthing can benefit all people, all types of births, in all birthplaces. I have group classes running in both Stirling and Larbert and also offer 1:1 courses online. Please get in touch if you would like to know more – I would love to chat!
