1-1 Private Classes
Hello and congratulations on your pregnancy. I’m Helen and I live near Winchester in Hampshire with my husband, my daughter and our two children.
My journey to becoming an instructor started when I first came across the term ‘Hypnobirthing’ back in 2013 when we discovered were expecting a surprise baby. The positive pregnancy test came as a bit of a shock to us as we hadn’t planned to have a baby but once the news had sunk in, I excitedly starting googling (as you do) all things pregnancy and birth related.
My first baby had been born 13 years prior so I was interested to find out how much things had changed. Hypnobirthing was one of those things that popped up in my search results and I had no idea what it was or what it involved! Reading into it further and then reading stories from women that had practiced it, it all struck a bit of a chord with me and made so much sense, it wasn’t long before I had signed the hubby and I up to a course with a local instructor.
Having already had a baby, I thought I knew quite a lot about pregnancy and birth already, I couldn’t have been more wrong. The course was a massive learning curve and we left each session literally saying ‘wow’, and we couldn’t wait for the next. By the end of the course we were both feeling fully prepared, excited and I was genuinely looking forward to the birth bit, how many women do you hear saying that?!
I had the most amazing, calm birth, it was truly magical and I had never felt so empowered. It was everything I had ever imagined and more and I believe that is 100% down to practicing hypnobirthing. I felt amazing afterwards and my recovery was immense, a complete contrast to how I felt after my first birth.
When I fell pregnant again (this time without the shock :)) of course Hypnobirthing was my go-to for birth preparation. I had planned to have a lovely homebirth but on the night I went into labour, unfortunately there were no midwives available to come out which resulted in a rather frantic, and uncomfortable journey into hospital via ambulance! This is where Hypnobirthing really came into its own for me, using the tools and techniques I had learnt during our course, I was able to remain calm and focussed on the task in hand. This was not the birth I had planned and there was a lot of disruption and had it not been for hypnobirthing, quite frankly I think I would have freaked out! All the Hypnobirthing practice kept me grounded and as relaxed as possible during quite a challenging situation and we made it to the hospital just in time, my little boy was born 15 minutes later! This birth was still a positive experience, I was able to remain calm and in control of how I reacted to a less than ideal situation and again, I 100% put this down to everything I learned during our Hypnobirthing course.
It wasn’t long after this that I knew I wanted to train as an instructor. Your birth experience will stay with you forever and I feel very strongly that every woman and birthing person should be able to look back on their birthing experience with positive and happy memories and I want to be able to help you achieve that too, no matter how you choose to birth your baby.
I absolutely love my job and get a real buzz from seeing such a transformation in my clients throughout my course and hearing all about how hypnobirthing helped them during their birth.
My courses are friendly, relaxed and tailored to meet your specific needs, you will leave feeling informed, empowered, fully prepared and excited to meet your little baby.
Please do get in contact if you would like to find out more about any of the courses I teach, I look forward to hearing from you.
