Hello, I am Shelley, Mum of Two based in Christchurch, Dorset. I live with my two children, Willow and Woody and husband Martin in between the beach and the New Forest. 

My first child, Willow, was born 6 weeks early via an emergency c section under general anaesthetic, where she spent time in NICU and transitional care for 9 days before coming home. When I became pregnant with my second child, I was keen to reframe birth and prepare positively for whatever journey my next birth took. 

I practiced hypnobirthing from 14 weeks, absorbing myself in books, podcasts, imagery and MP3s, I also completed a course with my husband and we felt fully prepared and excited for birth. Woody was born through physiological labour in hospital at 39+4. I laboured at home for 26 hours, using all my hypnobirthing techniques to stay calm, relaxed and comfortable, we travelled to hospital as things ramped up after my waters broke in the bath and 4 hours after arriving at hospital, Woody was born quiet as a mouse with his eyes wide open ready to meet the world!! This second birth was miles apart from my first and after breathing and baring down, I felt my body doing what it needed to bring my baby earth side, it was amazing. The midwife afterwards asked where I learnt hypnobirthing and said “you should teach it” – so I guess that is why I am here today. 

I want to support women in preparing for the day they meet their baby, first time mums who have never birthed before, or mums who have, like me, and want to reframe their impending birth so the outcome is a positive one. 

I will be teaching group classes at The Retreat in the New Forest and also welcome one to one clients and those who would like to learn virtually over zoom.
