The Little Birth Company
The Little Birth Company was founded in 2018 by Wendy Wood & Melissa Maloney. More than co-owners, Wendy and Melissa discovered a deep connection and friendship, sharing a passion for birth, supporting families, and building a business that allows them to be fully present for both The Little Birth Company community and their families.
From the start, we set out to create something unique. A bespoke approach to birth preparation – a programme adaptable to meet the individual needs of the families they support however and wherever they choose to birth their babies. Empowering Hypnobirthing teachers – providing solid foundations for new or experienced instructors seeking the freedom to build a business that reflects who they are.
With these principles at the heart of their mission, The Little Birth Company was born. Today, we are proud to have trained over 500 Hypnobirthing teachers across the UK and globally, positively impacting pregnancy and birth. Our training is fully accredited, recognised by the NHS, and has won multiple awards, including Best Hypnobirthing Parent Courses and Best Instructor Training Provider at the Parent and Baby Awards (2021 & 2023, 2024 and 2025).
We continue to create a seismic ripple of love and support for pregnancy, birth, parenting, and life, empowering teachers and families alike to experience calm, confident, and positive birth journeys.

I followed my childhood dream and trained as a Midwife in the 90s. After three years of training, I worked at a busy Maternity Unit in Berkshire for most of my Midwifery career. Supporting pregnant and birthing women and families has always been my passion, though my NHS career also led me to manage a sexual health outreach team for over 11 years.
I followed my childhood dream and trained as a Midwife in the 90s. After three years of training, I worked at a busy Maternity Unit in Berkshire for most of my Midwifery career. Supporting pregnant and birthing women and families has always been my passion, though my NHS career also led me to manage a sexual health outreach team for over 11 years.
I was fortunate to support a couple using Hypnobirthing for the birth of their first child. I was blown away: the woman was strong, calm, and confident, supported by a knowledgeable birth partner. This experience inspired me to train as a Hypnobirthing Instructor.
For the past 15 years, I’ve been running multiple businesses and supporting couples with Hypnobirthing, alongside training and working as a Doula. Running my own businesses has taught me so much about resilience, dedication, and what it takes to succeed.
I’m a dreamer, but most importantly, I put in the hours. For the first eight years, I balanced building my businesses with a 30-hour NHS role and raising our two young boys. It was a juggle, but non-negotiable. I wanted flexibility, to be my own boss, to create something I was passionate about, and most importantly, to be present for my family.
Over the years, I’ve taught 100s and 100s of couples Hypnobirthing and established myself as a respected birth worker in the area.
In 2018, I took the leap and left the NHS after 25 years — a scary but necessary step. That same year, I had a hip replacement, opened a pregnancy and parenting venue locally, and co-created The Little Birth Company with my wonderful friend and business partner, Melissa Maloney.
Fast forward to today and The Little Birth Company is an award-winning leading provider of Hypnobirthing education for parents and Hypnobirthing Instructor training. We’ve built an incredible community which we continue to nurture, that supports birthing families and offers outstanding guidance to our family of instructors.
Alongside all of this, I’ve developed my practice as a Reiki Master Teacher, Reflexologist and Certified Aromatherapist, bringing additional holistic support to the families and teachers I work with.
I can’t wait to support you on this incredible and life-changing journey.

I became a mum again in 2013, and it was during my pregnancies that I discovered Hypnobirthing — and, without sounding dramatic, it was a real life-changer. It not only transformed how I approached my own births, but also set me on the path to co-creating The Little Birth Company.
Although Wendy and I share many similarities, we each bring different passions and knowledge to the programme: Wendy as a former Midwife, and me as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Professional Business Coach, and Breathwork Specialist. The mind is a powerful tool, but few of us are given the handbook to use it to our strengths — this is where my interest lies, and combining that with the magic of birth has been a dream come true.
I live in a gorgeous village in the Northamptonshire countryside with my husband Dave and our boys, Freddie and George. I’m a real homebody and love nothing more than long muddy walks, cozy afternoons by the fire, good food, hot tea (or occasionally a pink gin), and a great movie.
I’m also a book lover, especially about mindset — though I usually give in and listen on Audible before finishing the paper version!
